I looks like The WB is going to bring back Dark Shadows. John Wells is going to produce along with Dan Curtis. there say it will be aired in the 04-05 in prime time.
Wells has done both movies (Timecop)and TV (ER).

Re: DS on the WB
Tue, April 6, 2004 - 5:27 PMfrom Tvguide.com:
In other casting news, Scottish thesp Alec Newman has been tapped to play Barnabas Collins in the WB's Dark Shadows remake.
www.imdb.com/name/nm0627995/
I've seen him in a couple of things, and, well, he's a better choice than what I had imagined. (I figured they'd find someone like that young blonde hunk from One Tree Hill.) -

Re: DS on the WB
Wed, April 7, 2004 - 6:51 AMI've never heard of Alec Newman. I checked IMDB, and I've seen none of his movies. I was hoping they would go for an older actor to play Barnabas. -

Re: DS on the WB
Mon, May 3, 2004 - 4:25 PMWell, though J Frid looked a bit haggard, he was only 35. Ben Cross, however, seems to have been in his 40s. I was sure that the WB would not cast anyone as "ancient" as Cross. I'm just glad that this guy is nearly 30, which still makes the story believable. He isn't a bad actor, as far as I've seen.

Sun, May 16, 2004 - 12:50 AMI read that Jonathan Frid turned down a cameo role. Too bad!
:-( -

Re: DS on the WB
Mon, May 17, 2004 - 6:01 PMJohnathan Frid was 45 not 35
Yeah he did look haggard, but in a rugged sexy sort of way.
Mmmm... show us them bottom teeth Frid..... -

Re: DS on the WB
Mon, May 17, 2004 - 8:27 PMWell, that explains the haggard a bit more.
Yeah, he did turn down a cameo on Victoria Winter's train ride to Collinsport.
Here's the rest of the cast, in case, anyone's not aware of it yet: www.barnabasundead.com/shadowscast.htm
I'm not happy with the choices for Vicky (only because she'll probably be Josette, too), Angelique and, especially, Julia. -

Re: DS on the WB
Mon, May 17, 2004 - 8:32 PMI must admit, this looks like a big bucket of suck.
I'll watch it anyway. -

Mon, May 17, 2004 - 10:42 PMIt can't possibly suck as bad as the one on NBC. -

Re: DS on the WB
Tue, May 18, 2004 - 5:31 AMWhen that one came over I was quite little. So i don't think I found it that bad... although I do remember my mother was quite upset because roger was fucking maggie or somehting like that...
Oh Drak Shadows... I dropped out of college to watch you on the sci-fi channel

Re: DS on the WB
Tue, May 18, 2004 - 2:31 PMI was rederring to the 2nd Dark Shadow on NBC, not the original. There NEVER will be one as good as that, but we can hope this one will be decent. After all WB has Charmed,Angel (which is dropped) and had Buffy. So from a programming stance, I would make sense to put on a winner like Charmed to lead int Dark Shadows, as most people would at least give DS a chance that like Charmed

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: DS on the WB
Tue, May 18, 2004 - 8:15 PMI would give it chance. Charmed would make a great lead-in to the new Dark Shadows. I just hope some of the old cast will be guest stars. -

Re: DS on the WB
Wed, May 19, 2004 - 6:26 PMI actually liked the NBC series, but it's been nearly a decade since I saw the whole thing replayed on the Sci-Fi Channel. I thought the cast was stronger than this one.
I don't know if any of us will get to see it, as it seems that the show wasn't picked up for the next fall season, as far as I've read. Perhaps, if one of their dramas fails, they'll sneak it in somewhere. It would've been nice if the WB had decided to keep Angel around, as a nice lead-in. Charmed is so abysmal. -

Re: DS on the WB
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 1:04 AMI heard 2004 or 2005 so it could be a replacement. Still think Charmed would be a good lead-in. -

Re: DS on the WB
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 8:12 PMWell, the WB has issued its new fall schedule. DS is not on the fall sched or on the Winter replacement list.

Re: DS on the WB
Thu, May 20, 2004 - 10:16 PMWell Poly, you are in the same business I spent 24 years in and may go back into(radio). So all in all, even though I appreciate your post, you know anything can happen espescially since WB doesn't always have winners on their network. There is also hope for TNT since they are both Time-Warner stations.
